Although I think the film makers tried to include a strong political message in the film, I think they failed miserably. The impression I got was that they almost decided at the last minute to include political jokes in a pot smoking comedy rather than write a political satire. The statement they were trying to make was not directed at anything in particular, but rather, it was just an aimless attack the U.S. in general. In additon, making jokes about Bush has been so overdone, I see it as the pinnacle of uncreative writing. I'm certainly not against the idea of comedy as an effictive way of making a statement about politics. Dr. Strangelove is one of my favorite movies, but I think this one was not only not funny, but it was a very poor attempt at trying to make a political satire because there was no conclusion about what they were trying to say. According to the film, the answer to our problems is to just smoke weed, and I down know how anybody can take a message serious that criticizes for an hour and a half and then doesn't answer a question but just suggests we all smoke weed.
okay, you are pretty clear about how you see the film.
