Dupuis Rendition

There is no reason anyone should ever be tortured. It is a proven way to get incorrect evidence and it is degrading to the human race as a whole. If even one innocent person is tortured for the wrong reason, it defeats the purpose of resulting to this pointless act. Now that America tortures foreigners, how long is it before this becomes an accepted practice in our country? As other generations grow up with the idea that it is OK to perform this gruesome act, it is inevitable that we will begin to accept harsher treatment of criminals here. How can a country lead the world we if are no better than the poorest, most violent, nation? We cannot perform torture and condemn others for doing it. Lets say that torture has saved 1,000 people so far, would anyone say it is worth it? I would hope that at least 1 person out of the 1,000 would be brave enough to die in order to prevent anyone from having to go through torture. Not even the most evil person alive deserves this treatment. The true measure of a man is how he treats someone who can do him absolutely no good. It takes a really big person (or country) to treat its worst enemy with dignity and respect. If we ever caught Osama bin Laden and gave him all the rights of a fair trial, we would surely be a shining spot of morality on the world stage.
