Loos - LAST BLOG :(

  1. 5 things I have learned about film

    1. Mise-En-Scene analysis
    2. Rhyming Elements
    3. Benicio Del Toro is a very attractive as a Mexican cop.
    4. American History X showed me that Edward Norton is in fact an impressive actor
    5. A mcguffin is an object that the characters seek, and while it furthers the plot, the object has no real importance in the plot. Examples include the maltese falcon in The Maltese Falcon, the flash drive in Date Night, and the money in Psycho.

5 Things I have learned about American politics

    1. Most media is owned by large corporations with certain political agendas
    2. The U.S. has not in fact received much helpful information from the suspected terrorists that they torture.
    3. Soldiers are being stop-lossed meaning their contract is extended without their say.
    4. Bowling for Columbine reveals that the media and the government keep the people under control with fear.
    5. I learn about Edward R. Murrow

How this knowledge has changed your perception of film in America.

I can understand films on a deeper level with mise-en-scene analysis. Important symbolism is revealed in the seemingly subtle and arbitrary decisions a director makes regarding lighting, character placement, etc. I also learned how to see the political undertones of films and the socio-political morals.
