Bucher - Final Blog post

5 things I learned about film
:
-Mise en scene is the most accurate method for analyzing film.
-The deliberate process which cinematographers undergo in all films no matter how poorly made the film is.
-The large presence of rhyming elements in film.
-How character proxemics can clearly define relationships between individuals without specific dialogue.
-Even the smallest elements such as names of characters or places can play important roles in plot development.

5 things I learned about politics:
-The mass presence of unknown surveillance in the United States
-The issues revolving the Stop-loss policy and how it effects American soldiers.
-Ways the American government finds loopholes in judicial law to use "interrogation" methods.
-The perceptions of President Bush's terms other than his lack of intelligence
-How the inner workings of the White House sometimes cause individuals to overstep their boundaries.

This class has changed my perception of film in the sense of how I analyze film for my own interpretations of plot and metaphors. The use of mise en scene, which will not be used as intensely as it was in this course, will be helpful in the development of my opinions on films I will watch and even ones I have already seen.
Many of the films slightly reflected my feelings regarding the United States as it was. Horton Hears a Who and the research material given to us regarding the movie helped me gain new knowledge about the government's capabilities of privacy invasion. Where as before I was aware of things such as the Patriot Act and social networking sites' capabilities to invade personal information, I now know about body scanners, personal identification cameras, and secret surveillance dust.
