5 Things I learned about film.

1.That in a scene, a director takes into account more than just what characters are in the shot. The director also puts symbolism in scenes.

2. That film is not solely for entertainment. It can have powerful political messages.

3. Film is an art form

4. How to do mise en scene analysis. This knowledge has changed the way i look at film.

5. Film can be used as a powerful propaganda tool by political groups. Film is often slated left or right and used to further a political agenda.

Five things I learned about politics in America.

1. American politics is not always as fair as we would like to believe.
2. our country is not always right in its actions. Americas actions in foreign countries have not always been fair.
3. Americas intelligence agencies have subjected captured enemies to torture, whether directly or by outsourcing torture to other countries that do torture.
4. twenty. Pot is only illegal because of racism, stereotypes, and misinformation.
5. Having a black president didnt change anything in america.

To me the thing i got most out of in this class didnt have anything to to do with politics or film. Over the past semester or so the way i look at the world around me has changed. Its strange, I find myself doing mise' en scene of things i see around me. I look for symbolism in everyday life. I feel like i over analyze a lot in film, art, and life around me now.

  1. Nice perceptions at the end. I am glad that you see things a bit differently; that is what college is supposed to be about.
