I think Harold and Kumar escape from Guantanamo bay definitely has a deeper meaning other than happy irrelevant bong humor, although I think the director really hid that message within the movie, so its easy to confuse audience members into believing that they are seeing a dumb movie specifically about smoking pot. Harold and Kumar definitely show a lot of issues with today society, especially how people are racially targeted, and how people are so aware of this. A good point in the movie to reference is when Kumar is going through airport security and he is stopped and proceeds to call the TSA agent racist, even though the TSA agent was black. I believe that the director was trying to make a joke, about how everyone believes that they are being stopped due to racial profiling, when in reality, it might be just because they are randomly chosen, also when Harold and Kumar’s parents are being questioned about their sons, the agents pretend to not understand them because they are not Caucasian, I feel as though the director threw that scene in the movie, to joke about how serious everyone had been taking suspected terrorism. This movie really does just make jokes about how ridiculous people are being about homeland security after 9/11, and although I don’t think that it should be joked about, I do feel like a movie did need to cover the topic in not such a serious way.
