Castellini -Bong Films

I believe that this movie has somewhat of a political message, but I think the main attraction to it is the fact that it is indeed another "stoner" film. Our age group is so attracted to this kind of movie because I think it is something our generation feels we can relate to, or we find it entertaining because they take real life experiences and they go a little further than most would go, or just they make experiences that a lot of people have- just funnier. I am not entirely sure what the reason is, but I think our age group is so attracted to this kind of movie because the content is something that is NOW, it is not historical, or educational, its just what kids at a certain age, see as "life" just in a humor film form.

I thought the message that they were trying to portray was what George W. Bush's character says at the end of the film, "You don't have to believe in your countries government, you just have to believe in your country". I think there was a great deal of racial profiling in this film, all of which could be addressed as a political messages, but I think that quote was more the overall message to a series of mockeries this film alluded to. I think there were obvious stereotypes made, but the political messages were the conclusions the viewer had to make after thinking about the scene, or overall film.

  1. Good point about the conclusions viewers had to draw themselves. Sometimes that is the biggest value in a film.
