Like you said, for the most part, everyone is against torcher. It is inhumane, and morally corrupt etc. The movie also portrayed a very extreme case of why the method of torcher is such an injustice. However, the method of thinking, utilitarianism, supports the idea that you risk one life in order to save a number of lives. I am not saying this is what I believe; I don't think one life is more valuable than another. However, in the case of terrorism, where in the past- 1000s of innocent lives have been lost, if it were possible to prevent such an event, simply by harming a guilty man to gain information I would say many of us would choose the ladder over something as catastrophic and horrific as something like 911. It is difficult to say what is the right thing, because either way, there is a distinct possibility that innocent lives could be lost. But tactically thinking, I guess I would have to ask myself, which has the higher chance of harming the least amount of innocent lives.
okay
