Marijuana and Politics

Although the movie does glorify marijuana and attract the young viewers due to it's marijuana factor, it does have some what of a political message. It shows the flaws in the system, not because of the escaping of two "fugitives" but because of the lack of knowledge some politicians have. The main politician in the movie who is out to get Harold and Kumar is an exaggeration of what politicians are doing with the issues of terrorism. It shows the ignorance the government has due to the fear of America being attacked by terrorists. The politicians are also being represented by the president George W. Bush. This was a mockery of the president it showed the lack of power he had with in himself because he had to turn to his father for help and in that time he cringed with fear.
At the same time the movie is just a bong film. It is relevant to what is happening around the world because there are fears with in every person of terrorism. But it's about two pot heads who get in trouble because of a magic bong. Then in every situation they are relieved from pain and trouble because of marijuana. It really attracts the eyes of the teens today because the idea of a pot head is funny. The teens can find humor in the stupid, silly actions of the pot heads. They see what it feels like to be high and they become attracted to the idea of being a cool pot head...So even with the political message of the ignorance fear brings to the government, the idea of being a pot head appeals to a teen age

  1. Did you see H and K go to White Castle. It is essentially the same movie, but gives some background on the characters. Nice post.
