If there is a legit, justifiable reason for the use of torture, either it does not exist or I have not heard anything about it (the two are not mutually exclusive). What really soldifies my argument was when Anwar "confessed" to Freeman and gave him a name of "suspected terrorists", only to give his the names of the Egyptian soccer team. That scene proves that if put under pressure, people will say anything to relieve the pain. Even I admit this point--if someone threatened to waterboard me or harm my family, I would start spouting out random names and see if they fit (I hope Mr. Micheal Rotch or Amanda Huggenkiss don't think of me as a traitor for squealing on them).

Though if the CIA has any reason about them, they could develop a list of "names only used for squealing". That way, no one would be confused about which Eric Cartman bought the ingredients for a bomb; and maybe it wasn' t that Andrew Ryan but this one who helped plan the attack
