Marijuana should be legal in America. In a country where products such as alchohol, tobbacco, and over the counter drugs are regulated and sold, there is no reason why marijuana cannot be simalarly regulated. Alcohol causes ore than 80,000 deaths a year. tobbacco causes more than 400,000 deaths a year. The number of marjiuana related deaths? Zero. There has never been a single case of marjijuana related death. Marijuana, unlike alcohol or tabbaco, has no risk of physical dependecy. Marijuana is illegal in America because of widespread misconseption and prejudices perpetuated by both the government the very people who supply our counrty with drugs. The biggest proponent of keeping marijuana illegal are the drug cartels. Just as prohibition created the organized crime and mobs in the ‘20s, marijuana prohibition has created the drug cartels and large networks of organized distribution of drugs. This is money that instead of going to illegal organizations, could go to buisnesses and be taxed by the government to offset national debt.
